FEAR TO FREEDOM: STAND IN CHRIST AUTHORITY
Meeting Fear with POWER OF Christ
Healing, Authority & Victory
Fear is a part of the human experience. But for women healing from trauma, abuse, neglect, and dysfunctional relationships, fear often becomes more than a passing emotion—it takes root in the body, it clouds the mind, and can begin to rule daily life. This is because trauma opens doors to unclean spirits, and fear is one of them.
In the Holy Bible, there is a truth that we must come to know and believe. 2 Timothy 1:7 says that God has not given any of us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.
The truth is this:
FEAR IS A SPIRIT.
But, in CHRIST WE ARE GIVEN AUTHORITY TO STAND IN AUTHORITY OVER THIS WICKED SPIRIT.
If you grew up in a home where fear was a foundation for everything, living free of fear will be a brand new way of living. It could take some time to walk in authority. But the good news, is that when you do - you are no longer an exploitable woman, no longer a pawn to the wicked spirit of fear.
As daughters of God, we are CALLED AND COMMISSIONED into a journey of healing and empowerment where the spirit of fear can no longer rule or exploit us.
We must receive the proper training for this battle, which is a supernatural battle. Psalm 144 says, “God will train our fingers for this battle…”
Understanding Fear in the Flesh
This sprit of fear can influence our physical experience by activating our nervous system when we perceive danger—through the amygdala in our brain, which triggers fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses. In the flesh, you might experience your heart racing, your adrenaline spiking, and decision-making becomes impaired. Your mind may think worse-case scenario thinking, and loose all sense of hope. But when we stand in the Truth of God, and we have been healed of those past traumas and set free from the trap and snare of trauma, and the doors to those ungodly spirits are closed and sealed shut by the LORD, the spirit of fear bows down to the name of above all names: JESUS CHRIST.
VICTORY!!!
Many women, especially those who have endured relational trauma, find themselves cycling through fear-based patterns—not because they want to, but because their nervous system and mind has been brainwashed by the spirit of fear to expect threat and a lack of supernatural protection. And over time, even unsafe situations can feel strangely familiar… even addictive. Guess who is addicted to those cycles? The spirit of fear!
Personal Note: For years, I was unknowingly addicted to the highs and lows of chaos. Though I longed for peace, I kept ending up in unsafe environments, confused by my own patterns. It wasn’t until Jesus saved me and revealed what was going on that I began to walk in true freedom. I realized that the spirit of fear had been steering and stealing my life for 47 years!! But no more. Christ is now my anchor. The spirit of fear subdued (Luke 10:19)
Understanding Fear in the Spirit
When we begin to live a fear-based life, a life ruled by fear, this is a spiritual strategy of the enemy to keep human beings stuck. Stuck in lies, darkness and in the grip of the enemy of our souls. Scripture tells us:
"God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind." — 2 Timothy 1:7
That’s right—fear is not just a feeling. It is a spirit that must be resisted and cast out in the name of Jesus. Sometimes fear lingers due to ancestral iniquities, generational sin, or doors opened through trauma, witchcraft, or unresolved pain. But none of that is more powerful than Jesus.
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us: “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities…”
Breaking the Cycle: Healing Through Christ
Many of us were raised in homes where fear, shame, anger, and silence were normal. But God is raising up a generation of healed, whole, Spirit-led women who are reclaiming their identity and authority in Christ.
If you’ve ever been concerned about passing this fear-based way of living to your children, know this: You can be the generation where the cycle stops.
Healing and Freedom from the spirit of fear begins when we bring our pain to the Cross. When we renounce the lies that the spirit of fear created, repent of partnering with it, and receive God’s truth, we begin to walk in holy confidence and spiritual authority.
Here is a prayer to break agreement with fear:
Deliverance Prayer
In the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce all agreements—known or unknown—with the spirit of fear. I command it to leave me now. I close all doors that have been opened to fear through trauma, sin, or generational iniquity. I receive the peace, power, and love of Jesus Christ. I declare that I walk in sound mind and spiritual authority. Fear has no place in me. I belong to Jesus alone. In His mighty name, Amen.
When Fear Has Shaped Your Relationships
The enemy loves to use abuse, neglect, exploitation and relational dysfunction to break down God’s daughters and families. But Jesus came to restore.
Relational trauma—especially emotional abuse, neglect, manipulation, or chronic conflict—can lock you into fear-based living.
It’s not just painful; it’s spiritually dangerous. Fearful, shame-filled relating is a tactic of the enemy to block the peace and purpose God has for you. But God is calling you higher.
He is raising us up to:
Establish peace in our homes
Practice healthy, honest, Holy-Spirit-led communication
Build trust with God and others
Be Healed & Set Free from the snare of emotional and spiritual trauma
Walk confidently in your identity and authority in Christ
Isaiah 55:2–3 — “Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight…”
