HEALING: WOUNDED TO WHOLE
A Journey of Healing SOUL WOUNDS in Christ
For God to heal the often dissociated inner hurt parts within our souls impacted by trauma or sin, we can devote time to honor those parts and invite the Holy Spirit to renew, redeem, and restore them through the finished work of Jesus Christ. These may be parts of you that were silenced, suppressed, manipulated, exploited, or distorted because of pain, betrayal, abuse, or sin—whether your own or someone else’s.
In this exploration, we are creating a safe place for you to connect with these parts of your soul—not to dwell or drown in pain, but to allow the truth and love of God to reach every wounded place and transform it.
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMP)
Part 1: Honoring the Wounded Inner Parts
Drawing One
(EXAMPLE OF DRAWING ONE)
Start by asking Jesus to be present with you through this entire healing process.
Take out a white blank sheet of paper and label it:
Wounded Soul / Inner Hurt Parts
Draw with a pen or pencil. Begin drawing a version of you—as a wounded little girl—in your childhood home.
Now draw the primary caregivers in the same drawing—mother, father, grandparents, or whoever took care of you. These images can be simple or detailed. Just draw freely.
Now gently look at what you've drawn. Let the Holy Spirit be your Comforter as you take in the reality of your past.
Journal what you are feeling emotionally. Let yourself be real and honest. Don’t hold anything back. You are safe in the presence of the Lord.
This is your invitation to bring all things into the light, because:
“But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light [of God's precepts], for it is light that makes everything visible.” – Ephesians 5:13 (AMP)
Ask Jesus & WRITE DOWN THE RESPONSE FROM HOLY SPIRIT:
What do You want me to know about these painful memories?
Where were You, Lord, during these times?
What lies did I begin to believe about myself, others, or You?
Show me from your perspective, the wounds in those who harmed me.
Holy Spirit, “what do you say to those who harmed me?”
Holy Spirit, “what do you say to me in this memory/memories?”
Thank Jesus for being with you now—and even then—ready to heal these wounded parts and restore your identity as a daughter of God.
”Thank you, Jesus, for being with me during this time of deep healing. Without you, I could not let go of my past. I need you to help me heal. I need your healing power. I thank you for healing me.”
Journal Prompts: Becoming Aware
These sentence PROMPTS help bring awareness so the Holy Spirit can begin transforming you from the inside out. Write down the sentence prompt and complete the sentence, to help you express yourself while healing.
I am Safe to feel all my emotions, and here is what I am feeling:
Knowing what I feel and expressing it, here is what I want to express:
Knowing what I need and expressing it, here is what I want to express:
Knowing who is aligned with my God-given values, here is a list of names of those whom I know I can trust during my healing season:
“You were taught…to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” – Ephesians 4:22–24 (NIV)
Part 2: Honoring YOUR SOULS PRAYERS FOR FULL LIFE IN CHRIST
This next exercise is an invitation to see yourself as God sees you—redeemed, whole, and filled with His Spirit.
“He made Him who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:21 (AMP)
Drawing Two
(EXAMPLE OF DRAWING TWO)
Start again by asking Jesus to be with you and guide this part of your healing.
Take out a second blank sheet of paper and label it:
Healed Soul / Wholeness of Christ
Draw yourself again—but this time, as a healed, restored, vibrant child of God. Imagine what it feels like to be whole—full of joy, trust, and freedom.
Now draw your caregivers again—but as you would have longed for them to be: nurturing, supportive, loving, protective, joyful, engaged. Let your imagination be holy and hopeful.
Add color to this drawing. Notice how your heart responds.
Maybe you feel deep peace.
Maybe you feel a little sadness, grief, or longing.
Whatever you feel is welcome. The Holy Spirit is with you in every emotion, ready to heal.
Journal What You Feel:
Reflect on what this exercise has brought up. Let yourself write honestly. You're not trying to "fix" yourself—you're simply creating space for the Lord to work deeply within your soul.
“For He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption—the forgiveness of sins.” – Colossians 1:13–14 (AMP)
Journal Prompts: Your New Life in Christ
These PROMPTS help you begin to walk in your new identity—not as one who is defined by trauma, but as one made new in Christ.

From Wounded Girl to Woman of God
“I am made new and whole by Christ Jesus”
Encouragement: You Are Being Made New
Some relationships from your past may never become what you once hoped for—but you can be made completely new. You are not bound to the patterns, pain, abuse or dysfunction of your upbringing or experiences. Christ wants to completely set you free from these patterns and pain, to give you a brand new life.
As you allow yourself to feel, grieve, and process with the Lord, you are allowing the Holy Spirit to make you strong, tender, discerning, and rooted in truth.
You are not only being healed—you are being transformed.
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [that is, separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you pure and whole and undamaged—consecrated to Him—set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete and [be found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (AMP)
Final Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I praise You for being my Redeemer and Restorer. Thank You for loving every part of me—even the parts that have been wounded or hidden in fear. Lord Jesus, I surrender my past, my pain, my trauma, and my sin to You. Thank You for dying to make me clean. Thank You for raising me into a new life. Holy Spirit, come into the deep places of my soul and make me whole. Heal what I could never heal myself. Let the parts of me that were lost, shut down, or distorted be transformed into the likeness of Christ. I receive my identity as a new creation—spotless, blameless, healed, and beloved.
I trust You to walk with me every step of the way.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
