Coming into Wholeness
SHALOM: THE WHOLENESS OF GOD
A message of peace, restoration, and hope
When I lived in Israel many years ago, “Shalom” was how we greeted one another.
What I didn’t know then—but deeply understand now—is that this single word holds great meaning.
Shalom means being made whole
If you're healing after the horrors of abuse, neglect, betrayal, or any kind of relational dysfunction, the idea of wholeness may feel foreign… even unreachable. I know it can feel really hard, like how are you ever going to get out of this pit?
I was lifted up and out, one step at a time, by Jesus Christ.
As you embrace your unique and personal season of deep inner healing with the LORD you will start to come out of emotional numbness, out of the darkness, out of the pit. You will feel the emotions you have had to numb out for your whole life. And God will MOVE. He will go at the pace you need, you just need to be willing to come out of the familiar pit. I know you might not believe it’s possible. And you might be scared. But if you take it just one step at at time, He will do the rest. I just want to encourage you to not settle for the familiar pit! Do you know what I mean? It can almost feel more comfortable to stay in the pit of what you know than dive deeper with God so He can MOVE INTO MIRACLES.
You CAN GO BEYOND HEALING, and you will come ALIVE by way of His Holy Spirit Power.
Let’s start with where you are at right now,
maybe you are feeling hopeless, defeated, and in despair…
I encourage you to start by breathing in deeply, and settling into the presence of God’s stillness.
questions you can ask the lord:
“What does wholeness look like in this season of my life, LORD?”
What do you hear when you listen to the Lord?
Let the LORD minister to you. Ask Him the question, and then listen.
I encourage you to ask God questions, and listen to what He says.
You may also like to write down what you hear Him say. I write down everything.
If you are unsure if it’s Him, ask Him for confirmation.
You can let Him know you are unsure. You can share with Him the doubt. You can say, “Lord, I am afraid to trust in you..”
Just be honest with Him, whatever you are honestly feeling. Your honesty will deepen the trust between yourself and the LORD.
You need a safe place to open up and BE VULNERABLE AND REAL AND HONEST.
Just stay in connection and communication with Him, because this relational connection is your LIFE LINE!
🚫 What Might Be Hindering the Shalom of God?
You may be striving too much. Trying to hard.
What helped me the most when I began my own journey was to embrace deep rest.
REST…..
To just feel, heal and rest with the LORD.
In God’s rest, He can help you be set free from some of the things listed here. You may ask the LORD these questions in your time of resting with Him. You can be laying on the couch, and just asking the LORD these questions to receive His TRUTH.
Lies you may have believed about yourself - “God, what lies am I believing right now?”
Shame or fear that was never yours to carry from unhealed others - “God, what am I carrying that is not mine to carry?”
Voices that whisper “there is something wrong with you” - “God, is there something wrong with me?”
Painful identities spoken over you that God never authored - “God, what is my true identity? What are the qualities you have uniquely given me?”
You may also ask the Lord:
“God, what is hindering me from experiencing Your Wholeness? I need to know!!”
Why Is It So Hard to Feel Connected Sometimes?
Maybe you carry unhealed wounds from those you were supposed to feel safest with, like your primary caregivers: mom, dad.
That kind of pain creates thick walls of numbness. If you don’t have a safe place to process be healed, you may stay stuck there in that prison. But God wants to SET YOU FREE! “Take my soul out of prison, that I may praise your Name!”
🧡 If others have spoken lies over you, you can ask the Lord to show you the Truth.
🧡 If your heart feels weary, you can bring those emotions to the Lord and feel and be healed.
🧡 If you’ve felt disconnected or unseen, you may feel called to slow down, letting the LORD connect with you and you connect with Him. He sees you.
It’s never too late to go to Him in your full desperation!!!
Just keep showing up desperate and in need.
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
(Numbers 6:24–26)
“I trust Him with all my heart. He helps me,
and my heart is filled with joy.
The LORD gives His people strength.”
(Psalm 28:7-9)
