How to Start Creating Healthy Loving Relationship

PRESENCE

Presence with one another promotes safety, connection, love and trust.

Healthy Loving Relationships are built over time, with the ones God has ordained us to be with. If you are new to this journey and learning what healthy loving relating is, you are not alone! We are all learning how to love with skill, care and wisdom. There is one thing I have learned and I’d love to share with you.

It used to be hard for me to stay deeply present with my daughter when she was really young, I felt bad about that and wanted to learn how to attune with her better so our bond could strengthen. But over time, I learned that Healthy Loving Relating is created when we slow down and add an important ingredient: PRESENCE

I began practicing PRESENCE with my daughter every day five years ago.
Being Truly Present with her built trust. It also brought us much laughter, playfulness, joy and ease....

To cultivate PRESENCE:

1. Slowing down and softening our hearts to be present with those we care about.
2. Eye gazing for a minute, into the eyes of someone you love.
3. Coming to stillness throughout the busy day, breathing gently and asking God to hold you if needed.
4. Being curious about life and the circumstances we are in, asking God to see life from His point of view.
5. Asking Questions: What do you like about life right now? What do you not like about life right now? What can support you right now, love?
5. Offering Reassurance: I am here for you, and the peace in your heart matters to me.
6. A 10-Second Hug: Hugging someone you love for 10-seconds, you can both count together!

Last night, my daughter and I designated one night to each of us, serving each other and taking care of each other.

My daughter Simone was the queen being taken care of last night. She dreamt of having a warm foot bath, a foot massage and watermelon juice to be delivered to her throughout the evening. She loved being treated like a queen, and it felt good for me to provide her with these gestures of loving care.

Tonight I will be the queen.

We are learning how to be present.
Slowing down, all technology off, communicating consciously and openly.

Attuning to her needs, I am tuning into my heart more fully. I feel how healing it is to slow down. Slowing down opens new doors to a brand new experience that wants to arise. I experience how Presence creates space for healthy connecting and loving, and a lot of room for playfulness!

A PRAYER FOR YOU

Lord Jesus, I lift anyone reading this now to you.
May they feel the love and presence you have for them.
Lord, help them slow down and take time to be with you and receive your love,
so they may be filled with your love and overflow to others with ease.
In Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen…

SCRIPTURE TO SUPPORT

1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up.

Philippians 2:3-7
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit,
but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

Let each of you look out not only for his own interests,
but also for the interests of others.
