From Lost to Found: Discovering True Identity

Knowing Who You Are in Christ Changes Everything

One of the greatest gifts Jesus has for us all is our true identity. Coming to know Him, who we truly are is revealed.

When my daughter encountered Jesus Christ in the year of 2022, our lives were forever changed. We both met the Lord and we began a new way of loving, living and blossoming. We were born again by the power of the Holy Spirit!

For many years I was trying to heal myself from past relational trauma, and I ended up in the occult doing yoga, meditation, reiki, and shaman rituals. I was deceived. I opened my daughter up to these practices, but thanks to God, she never took to any of it. She was protected by the Lord the whole time. But, I went through a journey of being terribly deceived and then finally saved, healed and set free, by the Grace of God.

It hasn’t been easy, but I finally was healed by the love of Jesus Christ. My daughter quickly began to walk with the Lord too. She had her own experience with the Lord and has been blossoming anew ever since.

When healing after relational trauma of any kind and coming out of spiritual deception, there are lies that we must come out of agreement with so that the truth of who we truly are can be fully agreed with. This is what happened for me.

Relational abuse often teaches us to believe that we are UNWORTHY. You might live with an identity of unworthy-ness.
Relational rejection often teaches us to believe we are UNWANTED. You might live with an identity of unwanted-ness.
Relational abandonment often teaches us we are UNLOVABLE. You might live with an identity of unlovable-ness.

But God speaks something entirely different.

My daughter and I in 2022, after we both encountered Jesus Christ. We were born again by the Holy Spirit and our lives are now on a solid foundation of God’s truth and love. Our identity is known!

When we discover who we are in Christ, we begin to walk in true identity, true expression, and true freedom.
After receiving the free gift of Salvation, our Healing and Restoration by the Lord reveals who we were truly made to be.

And the TRUTH sets us free!

Our identity is no longer determined by our past, our relationships, our mistakes, or the opinions of other people. It is finally rooted in the unchanging character of God, and the unique way He has created us and made us to be.

And because God never changes, His love for us never changes. As we accept the Lord into our hearts and our lives, we learn He really does care for us and that we can trust Him with every area of our lives.

He is our New Foundation for Life.

When you know who God says you are, you become firmly established on a foundation that cannot be shaken.

Scripture tells us that through Christ we are children of the Most High God, deeply loved, chosen, accepted, forgiven, redeemed, and made new. We are even seated with Christ in the heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), living from a place of victory rather than defeat.

If the way you experience your self and your life has been defined by the trauma you have experienced throughout your life, there is hope and healing and freedom from this for you.

This will come for you as you begin your relationship with JESUS CHRIST.

As women we renew our minds with God's truth. We receive the Lord’s love. We are given the gift of walking in faith, standing in spiritual authority over the spirit of fear. We are washed clean of sin and shame, no longer tempted to sin and no longer ashamed of who we are. And we are competent and confident because of Him in us, not because of what we do or what we accomplish, but because of what the Lord did for us and how He is now growing us and moving through us.

The lies of the enemy fall away.
The truth of God's Word takes root in our heart.

If you struggle to believe who you truly are today, speak God's truth over your life starting today.

Declare:

  • I am loved.

  • I am chosen.

  • I am accepted.

  • I am forgiven.

  • I am redeemed.

  • I am God's beloved daughter.

  • I am created in God's image.

  • I am never alone.

  • God is for me and not against me.

  • My past does not define my future.

  • Jesus makes all things new.

Sometimes these words may feel difficult to believe at first. That is okay, God is going to help you get there!

Healing is not only emotional, it is also mental, by replacing old lies with God's eternal truth. As you continue to speak His promises, pray, and invite the Holy Spirit to heal the broken places in your heart, your mind begins to align with what God has always known about you. Your actions and words align with God’s truth.

And as your identity becomes secure in Christ, something beautiful happens—you begin helping other women discover their identity as well. Your healing becomes a testimony. Your freedom becomes an invitation for others to discover true healing and freedom.

You are not surviving.

You are becoming the woman God created you to be!

Scripture for Reflection

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" (1 John 3:1)

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come." (2 Corinthians 5:17)

A Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You that my identity is found in You alone. Thank You that I am loved, chosen, accepted, forgiven, and redeemed through Jesus Christ. Help me recognize every lie that has taken root. Replace lies with the truth of Your Word.

Renew my mind. Heal every wound left by rejection, abuse, neglect, and betrayal. Teach me to see myself the way You see me. Establish my heart and mind firmly in You so that I cannot be shaken by the opinions or treatment of others, or the circumstances of life.

Help me walk confidently as Your beloved daughter. May my healing become a light that leads other women to the only light, hope and freedom that found in you and only you, Jesus Christ.

In your name,
Amen.
